Right after researching some scanning software, I was putting food away in the frig last night when I felt the strongest jab ever on the left side of my tummy. It didn’t hurt or anything but it sure was surprising. I have had an inkling that I could already feel the baby moving inside of me around week 11 (little flutters here and there) but according to my doctor when I brought it up, he said it was impossible as it was too early. But hey, it’s my body — I should know, right? But fine.. I dismissed it (well, not really) and pretended like I agreed with everyone that it might be everything else but the baby. But last night? Okay, there’s NO mistaking that. My baby was making his or her presence known.

And I’ve been feeling her all day today. 14 weeks on Saturday, still a ways to go.

I love, love, love “P.S. I love You.” It is such and incredibly romantic chick flick. Even thought the plot deals with the death of a woman’s soul-mate, their love helps her overcome his death through a series of letters he write he post mortem.

She reads each letter and her whole face lights up as he tells her to experience new things and get on with life. The film is beautiful shot with flashbacks of the couple, Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler. It is also shot in Ireland and the scenery is so lush and unbelievable. It made me want to turn off my satellite tv and go to Ireland right then!

My favorite scene is when the couple meets. Hilary Swank’s character is lost in the vast countryside and she runs into Butler. He leads her back to civilization as they spend time talking and laughing. I love that they meet by chance and it seems to be fate. He tricks her into a kiss and after she runs away claiming, “if I see you again we know it was meant to be!” Luckily, they meet once more.

She eventually realizes to let her husband go and move on with her life as a show designer. The movie is perfect in every aspect and it makes me smile at the hope it offers.

I am a little bummed that our summer didn’t include any out of town trips this year. I can’t even remember if we traveled last summer.. which kinda makes me even more bitter for Erynne (okay, fine.. I’m bitter for myself, really). But that’s life. We have a few things coming up in our lives that have to take priority and some big ticket items that come with it so I guess we have to play that responsible game that adults do. Bleeeh.

On a happier note, my cousin A and his family from Alaska are currently on a road trip. Yes, I wanted us to join but hubby wasn’t able to get the time off on such short notice. Unfortunately, I got a text from them the other day that they had to stop a little longer in Los Angeles because their Ford Explorer unexpectedly broke down on their way to San Diego. They are all okay — including my 4 nieces and nephews. Good thing we have family nearby because our other cousin M was able to help them find a Los Angeles auto repair shop right away. Turns out there was a problem with the head gasket.

As I type this, they are on their way to Legoland. I hope they surprise us with a visit. Wishful thinking!

I was never the decorate-y type of person when it comes to homes/apartments. I have always been the blah type of person. Probably because the less stuff inside of my apartment or home, the better. You already know I despise junk lying around (unfortunately, having to live with a toddler and A MAN, my standards have gone way down. I am tired of constantly nagging and especially with this pregnancy, I’m trying to be as chill as I can so those bills that are piling on the dining table? Bring it baby!). But I think the even bigger issue I seem to have with this “less is more” notion is that I simply do not know how to decorate or piece things together. Or maybe because I don’t take that adage to heart that your home is a reflection of who you are. Because surely, if my home was a reflection of who I was, I’d probably have purple walls and maybe I’d even paint my windows green. My bathroom would probably be stark white and vintage-y while my kitchen would be an open food court. And that contemporary furniture stuff? Is Pottery Barn considered contemporary furniture? See, I don’t even know the proper terms when it comes to decorating.

Wishful thinking but if anyone from HGTV is reading this blog, care to help?

I have to say these past few days have been the most uncomfortable thus far since this pregnancy started. It all started with some back aches I noticed as I was driving last Monday. Didn’t think anything of it until Tuesday when the pains started to increase, particularly in my lower back area. By night, I was dreading going to bed because I knew that our once-comfortable Ikea bed was not going to offer much comfort for my aching lower back–and I was right. It was a terrible night, I could cry. I couldn’t find any position that would work in conjunction with my back and then I started to wonder if I happened to jinx myself for all those times people would ask me how the pregnancy was going and I would answer, “I feel great! I wouldn’t think I was pregnant save for all the ultrasounds that show a miracle growing inside of me.” Ha, welcome back pains. Oh and I am failing to let you all know that the next day (Wednesday), the pain had extended down to my buttocks, hips and parts of my right thigh. Not sure if I’m worthy of being heard but I did pray a silent prayer that this wasn’t going to be something I’d have to contend with from here on out until the baby’s birthday. The horror, if so. I did call my doctor just to ask if what I was feeling was a normal thing as I’d never felt this with my first pregnancy–and so early in the game (I will only be 13 weeks this Saturday!). He had me come in immediately to rule out any dilation of my cervix. Uhhh.. what do you mean my cervix might be dilating??? Based on old pregnancy books, this didn’t sound good at all! Thankfully, I walked away from the doctor’s office with merely pregnancy aches and pains to blame for my uncomfortable state.

Fast forward to today. The pain has subsided and I can move around a lot more than I have been the past couple of days. There are occassional shooting pains in my legs but I guess this is just something I have to live with for a while. Still hard to sleep and find a comfortable position because pre-pregnancy, I would sleep on my face and tummy and snore the night away. Not anymore, no sir.

The joys of pregnancy. I wouldn’t trade today for anything.

46. Have you ever slapped someone? With my temper, are you kidding me?! Hell yes!

47. Is your hair curly? I find that this pregnancy seems to have brought out a few more curls than I’ve ever seen before.

48. What was the last CD you bought? Oh gosh. Maybe in 2004?

49. Do looks matter? It shouldn’t because I’m nothing fabulous to look at.. but yeah, I judge based on looks. Sue me!

50. Could you ever forgive a cheater? I probably should considering I’ve done it before.. but I’d probably do it right back AND in front of my boyfriend/husband’s family at that!

51. Is your phone bill sky high? We only have cell phones but considering that there’s 4 of us sharing the line, it’s not too bad.

52. Do you like your life right now? I may not have everything I want but I sure do have everything I need. Deep!

53. Do you sleep with the TV on? No.

54. Can you handle the truth? Bring it!

55. Do you have good vision? No, I wear contacts/glasses.

56. Do you hate or dislike more than 3 people? Dislike, yes.

57. How often do you talk on the phone? A couple of times a day.. usually for a minute or two.

58. The last person you held hands with? My daughter.

59. What are you wearing? An oversized shirt and some shorts.

60. What is your favourite animal? I would love a puppy, preferably a cuckapoo but the idea of taking care of one and training it so it doesn’t dirty my home and stink it up is another story. Friends say they’d call the animal police if I ever got a pet hahahahaha!

61. Where was your favorite picture taken at? I don’t like pictures taken of myself these past few years and besides, I don’t really gush at pictures and think about what’s my favorite or not.

62. Can you hula hoop? I probably could but that would be a spectacle I’m not ready for the world to see right now.

63. Do you have a job? Yes, I work at home for my husband and my daughter.

64. What was the most recent thing you bought? Hubby’s ipad insurance.

65. Have you ever crawled through a window? I don’t believe so.. maybe in a dream because I probably couldn’t fit through one in real life hahahaha!

I watched Ramona and Beezus at the theaters yesterday with my girl. We enjoyed it—a lot. In fact, the little girl wanted to watch it again today but we’re going to have to pass on that. Going to the movie is such a luxury–I would much rather use that money on food. We went to the first showing and even though that was only 6 bucks (ha, only) a piece, I could have bought a nice yummy sandwich with that. Yes, food consumes me people, get over it.

While watching the movie, I got to thinking that someday I will have Erynne babysit her little sibling when that time comes I should decide to go back to work (I’ve been very vocal about wanting to be a part of society again). But before that will happen, I would really like to invest in a good home security system. These are different times—gone are the days where you can easily leave your door unlocked and you need not worry about people walking in and doing God knows what. I see a lot of ADT signs up on people’s houses so I decided to read more about it on homesecurityteam.com. I take it for granted a lot of the time that nothing will ever happen to us but now that we’re going to have two children in our home, I think we need to step up our safety game just a bit. Found a great site online provided by Fort Worth, PD that assists people in creating a security survey for their home. And if that isn’t enough to help you out, you can always refer to these police security tips in securing your home—most especially your family.
