You learn something new everyday.

Call me whatever you want.  I just learned that God was a real person.  Back in the days, that is.  I still don’t have the whole God/Jesus story down pat but I’m starting to slowly understand.  I seriously thought he was some kind of made up cartoon character.  Laugh ~ cuz I know you want to hahaha.

Honest, for the first time, it sunk into my head what Easter was all about — that He died on Friday and rose again on the 3rd day (ahhh, so that’s why that line is included in one of the chants!) — Easter Sunday!  All this time, I thought Christmas was a lot more significant than Easter, which led me to ask Eric what the big deal was during Christmas, going so far as asking him, “Well, who’s Jesus then?”  In the end, Eric was a bit upset and said that I sounded worse than an atheist when I started throwing my thoughts around.  He was a Catholic school boy, you see.

I went to CCD (I don’t know what that stands for but I do know it was so that I could receive communion) when I was really young, around 3rd grade (9yo).  I can’t remember if I ever did confirmation, but judging as how I know jack, I probably didn’t.  And you already know I married in a Catholic church.. not really knowing the story behind the statue of a man crucified on a cross.  Pretty sad, isn’t it?  We’re all sad, in our own little ways.  Some people go to church and act like angels (but aren’t).  I plain go to church to set an example for my daughter and well, as Liv beautifully put it, “I kinda don’t want to… but it’s all I have.”  I couldn’t have said it better!

    Jen, your situation is still okay compared to mine. I was schooled in a catholic school all my life :D Religion was a part of the curriculum. Especially during college we have 2 subjects for in-depth study of catholicism. Though i learned a lot, my eyes were opened to some things…questions were left unanswered. Having this ‘education’ made me radical. Going to church is an obligation. But nurturing your faith, having spiritual growth, changing ‘ways’, acceptance, ‘loving’ God etcetera are all part of the package. Enrichment. And not being Passive. Im blabbering. {EXITING.NOW.}
