Happy anniversary to my mom and dad. They’re celebrating their thirty five years of marriage today. I remember less than a year ago, I was discussing plans with Cecil about organizing a renewal of vows for them in Manila. Obviously, it never pushed through (because my mom would prefer waiting for the big 50). It would have been a fun reunion for the family and well, another reason to work side by side with Cecil again (because God knows I could never get enough of him or his staff).
Many more anniversaries to come! Or in my mom’s case, here’s to more bottles of wrinkle cream!

My sister and I were catching up the other night and she disclosed that she is thinking about heading back to school to get her Masters in Nursing. She’s had this plan even before she graduated from Nursing school but I didn’t realize it would be so soon. Her only concern, however, is that she can’t afford to give up her job (what with that beautiful mortgage of hers and just recently, her new car). So knowing what I know about Masters degrees online, I suggested she take a look at Gonzaga University’s online programs for Masters in Nursing. She didn’t believe such a private and respectable school would even offer such a program so she looked it up herself and realized I wasn’t lying (Annie Lenox, where you at?!). I know it’s surprising to even fathom the idea of Gonzaga University handing out online degrees but I think it’s awesome. Did you know they are ranked as one of the nation’s best university by the the Princeton Review and Forbes magazine? Not only that, they are also ranked number 3 in the West by US News and World Report. Naturally, all this excited my sister — she can consider getting her Masters while still maintaining her day job. How much more perfect can it get?

While I was in Vegas, my sister purchased a brand new Toyota Camry. Her first car, gifted by the parentals back in highschool, was no longer acceptable. By that I mean, a busted airconditioner and everything. And mind you, she’d been driving her clunker for several months — yes, in more than 100 degree weather! Her saving grace (if you can even call it that) was that she started work early in the morning and would leave the hospital late at night. Even still, no one should have any business driving a car with no airconditioner in Vegas. Oh, and did I tell you she has leather seats?!?!?! So her brand new toy is definitely something she deserves. I imagine she’s probably looked into some auto accessories to spiff up her car. Bet you she’s enjoying that airconditioning. Heh!
